Summer Youth Employment

The City of Vicksburg provides a Summer Youth Employment Program for approximately eight weeks during summer vacation for interested students. The City offers a variety of jobs both indoors and outdoors. Placement depends on experience or training.

The requirements for eligibility include:

• Must be a graduating high school senior or college enrolled student
• Must attach most recent certified transcript, that indicates cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0
• Must be a resident of the City of Vicksburg or Warren County
• Must participate in an interview process
• Must pass a drug screen
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must not have been previously employed as a summer/student employee/intern
• Must be at least 16 years of age and must prove enrollment in high school or college.

Applications are available and accepted in April of each year for employment from the first of June through the last of July. Applications may be obtained at the Human Resource Office, 1415 Walnut Street, Vicksburg, MS, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or call (601) 631-3710.
