I would like to commend the site selection committee for all their efforts in the development of a sports complex for the City of Vicksburg. I feel we are half-way to our destination and with determination and dedication, a sports complex will become a reality for our community. Furthermore, as a result of the site presentation meeting last night on April 9, 2015, which I thought was very productive and informative, I would like to make the following recommendations:

Mississippi State Treasurer, Lynn Fitch, visited with Mayor George Flaggs this past week. State Treasurer Fitch was in Vicksburg touring Bowmar Avenue Elementary during its Leadership Day 2015. She was able to learn more about the Leader In Me Initiative and view how 1st Year Lighthouse School Bowmar Avenue Elementary is empowering young students to make the best choices for their future.

We salute Malcolm for never giving up on his dreams and proving that through hard work and a strong faith in God, anything in life can be accomplished. Again, congratulations to our Hometown Hero, Malcolm Butler." -- Mayor George Flaggs

National Flood Insurance Program: April 1, 2015, Program Changes

FEMA continues to take important steps to implement changes to the National Flood Insurance Program as called upon by the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 (Biggert-Waters) and the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014 (HFIAA). These reforms slow some flood insurance rate increases and offers relief to some policyholders who experienced steep flood insurance premium increases in 2013 and early 2014.

City offices will be closed Monday, February 16, 2015, in observance of Presidents' day.
