newksNewk's Eatery, one of a string of new businesses to open in Vicksburg recently, held its ceremonial ribbon cutting Saturday, August 17, 2003 at their newest location at 3403 Pemberton Square Boulevard in Vicksburg. South Ward Alderman, Willis Thompson was on hand to welcome Newk’s to the City. 

Barbies House of Consignment LogoVicksburg resident Temeka Stewart, recently opened a new consignment shop in downtown Vicksburg. Barbie's House of Consignment is a ladies' consignment shop that specializes in formal, vintage and designer wear. They also handle wedding dresses. Business hours are 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday.  The shop is located at 1403 Washington Street. Mayor Paul WinfieldVicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield, addressed the crowd gathered at the ribbon cutting for the Living Word Disaster Recovery and Development Center Agency.  Mayor Winfield stressed the importance of disaster preparedness as well as the need for long-term assistance during the recovery process. The Agency is located at 2127 Washington Street (formerly Blackburn Motor Company service building). 

tjmaxDiscount retailer, T.J. Maxx, held their much anticipated Vicksburg grand opening August 5, 2012. Approximately 150 Vicksburg residents lined up outside the store for the ribbon cutting. Mayor Paul Winfield addressed the crowd and welcomed T.J. Maxx to Vicksburg.

Alderman Michael MayfieldNorth Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield addressed a crowd of more 80 people gathered at the ribbon cutting ceremony of Vicksburg's newest medical facility, MEA Medical Clinics. The primary care clinic is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 601-619-7717.
MEA was founded in 1979 by a group of physicians who understood that patients' medical needs often occurred outside the traditional 8am to 5pm clinic setting.

Scissors and Style is a new and exciting small business that combines hair styling and a boutique in one shop. Mayor Paul Winfield and Michael Mayfield, North Ward Alderman, were both on hand to show their support and welcome this unique new business to Vicksburg. Mayor Winfield took the opportunity to remind everyone to support all new small businesses in our community. Enjoy great food at the new downtown Mexican restaurant located at 1415 Washington St. El Rio offers authentic Mexican cuisine in a great atmosphere with friendly staff. Owners, Thomas and Maria Barton, and Lorenzo and Priscilla Martinez, opened El Rio in April. They offer daily lunch specials at a great price.

Patsy's Downtown MarketPatsy's Downtown Market, located at 1205 Washington St, should be a definite stop on your visit to downtown Vicksburg. Owner, Patsy Humble, opened the first of May. She carries specialty food and beer, healthy snacks, and soft drinks. She also has art pieces from local artists.
