Vicksburg City Pool will hold registration for the 2017 American Red Cross Learn to Swim program Wednesday May 17 through Friday, May 19 from 10 am – 1 p.m. and Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at City Pool, 900 Lee Street.

Students from 3 years of age through senior citizen are encouraged to register and participate in a two week summer swim session. Cost is $12 per student per session.

biking3The Vicksburg Main Street Program, Crooked Letter Cycling, Revolution Mobile Bike Service and Bike Walk Mississippi are proud to announce that a Cycling Basics Seminar will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015. The seminar will take place at the Vicksburg City Auditorium, 901 Monroe Street, starting at 6 p.m. All cyclists are invited to attend. Cycling information shared will benefit the beginner as well as more experienced cyclists.The topics include types of bikes for different riding styles, basic bike fit, bike safety and cycling in traffic, quick bike maintenance, best places in and around Vicksburg to ride a bicycle, and cycling events in Mississippi. Revolution Mobile Bike will be on hand for basic and full-service bike Tune-ups.

Adult Softball registration will begin March 2, 2016 and run through April 15, 2016.  Registration Packets can be picked up at the Parks and recreation offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive from 8:00am till 5:00pm Monday through Friday.  Cost per team is $175.00 with an additional cost of $10.00 for non-city residents and a $20.00 fee for residents of Sharkey - Issaquena and Claiborne Counties.  A Mandatory Coaches meeting will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at 6:30pm at the Parks and Recreation offices.  All teams must have a representative at this meeting.  For more information call Joseph Graves at 601-4514.

basketballAdult men's and women's basketball registration will begin November 10, 2014, and run through December 17, 2014. Registration packets can be picked up at the Jackson Street Community Center and at the Parks and Recreation Offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Cost per team is $125.00 plus a $10.00 fee for each non-city resident.

The Vicksburg Recreation Department will hold an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED class on Saturday, September 19, 2015, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Recreation Department at 100 Army Navy Drive. The approximately 5 hour course is $85. This includes the student manual and a two-year certification Preregistration is required. Call 601-634-4516 for more information.

Red-Cross-CPR-CertificationThe Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department is now offering American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification and recertification classes to Vicksburg, Warren County, and the surrounding communities. All American Red Cross Health and Safety certifications are valid for two years.

rickshieldsFollowing a successful summer tennis program, the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation department has announced that the fall/winter programs will begin on August 17, 2015 and run through early next year. Program times are from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday weather permitting.

 

baseballFall baseball registration will run from August 11, 2014, through September 12, 2014. The fee for Fall baseball is $25.00 per participant. Registration forms can be picked up at Just Duet Sports, Hobies and the Parks and Recreation Offices on Army-Navy Drive starting on August 11, 2014.

Age division are 5 - 6 , 7 - 8 , 9 - 10, 11 - 12 and 13-15 years old. The season will begin on September 27, 2014, and run through October 27, 2014. Teams will play a double header on each Saturday until the end of the season.

Vicksburg City Pool, located at 900 Lee Street, will open for the 2015 Summer Season on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m.

Sno-Biz the popular shaved ice confection has opened a stand just outside the east gate at the swimming pool located on the corner of Lee Street and Army Navy Drive. The one-size cups are $1.50 and with over 25 flavors, including several sugar-free varieties, there is sure to be a Sno-Biz for every taste. Add yummy cream for just 25 cents more.

The stand will be open daily from 1 - 7 p.m. including July 4th.

Registration for the adult softball league is from March 02, 2015, through April 13, 2015. The cost for each team is $175.00 plus a $10.00 charge for each county resident and a $20.00 charge for residents from Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborn counties. Registration is for men, women and church league teams. Team packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices starting on March 02, 2015.
