Construction Plan Review

The City of Vicksburg Building & Inspection Department provides a comprehensive plan review for industrial, commercial and residential construction plans. The City requires 3 sets of construction documents for industrial and commercial projects and 2 sets of construction documents for residential projects. The plans must include the following minimum requirements:

Front, rear, left and right architectural elevations.

Foundation plan with details.

Framing plan with details.

Floor plan with details.

Plot plan showing setbacks, drainage, finished floor elevations, base flood elevation (if located in a special flood hazard area), erosion control, all proposed above ground construction of accessory uses (fences, pool, antenna, etc.). A site plan will be required for all industrial, commercial and multi-family projects. For further information call the Building & Inspection Department.

The construction plan review normally takes 1 to 2 days to complete for residential and 1 to 6 days to complete for non-residential, given that no modifications or additional documentation is required. Once a complete set of plans is approved the applicant may receive a building permit providing all fees have been paid.

For more information about the plan review process, or to find out about specific requirements for your project, stop by the Building & Inspection Department located at 819 South Street between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call the department at (601) 634-4528.
