National Night OutLocal National Night Out locations have beeen set. The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts.

The City of Vicksburg presents a "Fireworks Extravaganza" featuring Dialogue. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a welcome by Mayor George Flaggs.  The band will begin at 7:15 p.m. and perform until around 9:15 p.m.  The fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. 

City Offices will be closed Monday, September 1, 2014, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Ice Bucket ChallengeDressed in his business attire, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs took the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Ice Bucket Challenge on Aug. 21, 2014. Just before being soaked with ice water the Mayor challenged local elected officials, schools officials and State officials including Governor Phil Bryant and Attorney General Jim Hood to take part in the challenge in support of Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Mayor George FlaggsIn February 2012, Vicksburg's credit rating was withdrawn by Moody's Investors Service due to the city's inability to produce annual financial audits in a timely manner. The city had fallen behind almost three (3) years in annual financial audits. The city now has rectified the problem, and has hired a Certified Public Accountant on staff to ensure that annual audits are completed in a timely manner.
