Mayor Flaggs was part of a discussion panel at the annual Mississippi Economic Council Hobnob event. Hobnob is an annual gathering where business people, educators and elected officials can mingle, listen to political speeches and share ideas. The event was moved from its usual location at the Agriculture and Forestry Museum to the Mississippi Coliseum on the state fairgrounds this year because of rain. Organizers said more than 1,800 people registered to attend.

This year's Hobnob event featured special insight from newly-elected mayors who recently served in the legislature. The "Providing a New Perspective - Moving from the State Capitol to City Hall" panel focused on the different roles Mayor Kelvin Buck of Holly Springs, Mayor George Flaggs of Vicksburg and Mayor Billy Hewes of Gulfport have following the transition to their new offices at City Hall. The panel was moderated by Jack Reed Jr., former Mayor of Tupelo and an MEC Past Chair.
