mayor with flag 125x143On behalf of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg, I would like to inform everyone that it finally appears that we are getting closer to the reality of a sports complex for our community. The Mississippi State House of Representatives has agreed with the Senate version of the sports complex bill and it has been sent to the governor for his signature.

I would like to thank the former administrations of the City of Vicksburg for having the leadership and foresight of bringing a sports complex to our city. I would also like to thank our state delegation comprised of Senator Briggs Hopson and Representatives Alex Monsour, Oscar Denton, and Debra Dixon for their leadership in helping to bring this project to fruition. Much appreciation also goes to the Warren County Board of Supervisors, the Ad Hoc Committee on Recreation for the city, and of course, North Ward Alderman Michael Mayfield and South Ward Alderman Willis Thompson.

We will begin to make preparations to make certain that we have a competitive, yet cost-effective plan for the residents of Vicksburg and Warren County.

I look forward to making sure that this process is transparent and that all input and concerns are voiced during the planning stages, to ensure a 60% vote is passed from the electorate in an upcoming election. I would like to thank everyone for their patience, and again, this is another awesome day for Vicksburg!

Sincerely,

George Flaggs, Jr.
Mayor, City of Vicksburg, MS
