The Parks and Recreation Department is charged with providing quality recreational facilities to the citizens of Vicksburg. We currently have 13 full-time employees seven of which are maintenance workers and over 100 part-time. We maintain 25 playgrounds, 8 baseball fields, 3 youth softball fields, 3 adult softball fields, 1 olympic pool and 10 tennis courts. 

Some of our activities include baseball (spring and fall), softball, basketball, arts programs, volleyball, swimming, flag football, lifeguard certification, umpire clinics and playground activities.

Our busiest times of the year are spring and summer. During these times we design leagues and schedules for thousands of Vicksburg-Warren residents. We schedule umpires and scorekeepers and are generally responsible for the smooth operation of all our leagues.

2015 Summer American Red Cross Learn To Swim Registration

Vicksburg City Pool will hold registration for its 2015 American Red Cross "Learn to Swim" program Wednesday, May 13th – Friday May 15th from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Saturday, May 16th from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Cost of each two week session is $12 and classes will be held Monday - Friday.

Offerings include Three and Four year-old Preschool lessons, Beginning lessons for Adults, Intermediate Lessons for Adults, and the progressive Levels 1- 6.

2015 Summer Pool Schedule Released

Vicksburg City Pool, located at 900 Lee Street, will open for the 2015 Summer Season on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m.

Pool Hours:
Monday thru Friday:
6:00 – 8:45 a.m.: Lap Swimming/Swim Team Practice
9:00 – 12:00: Swim Lessons/Special Programs
12 noon – 1:00 p.m. : Lap Swimming
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.: Recreation Swim (Open for all)
6:00 – 7:50 p.m.: Family Swim Time
(During Swim Lesson Weeks the time is 6:45 – 7:50 p.m.)
Weekends and Holidays: (Memorial Day, Independence Day)
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.: Recreation Swim (Open for all)

Adult Softball Registration

Registration for the adult softball league is from March 02, 2015, through April 13, 2015. The cost for each team is $175.00 plus a $10.00 charge for each county resident and a $20.00 charge for residents from Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborn counties. Registration is for men, women and church league teams. Team packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices starting on March 02, 2015.

Cycling Basics Seminar

biking3The Vicksburg Main Street Program, Crooked Letter Cycling, Revolution Mobile Bike Service and Bike Walk Mississippi are proud to announce that a Cycling Basics Seminar will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015. The seminar will take place at the Vicksburg City Auditorium, 901 Monroe Street, starting at 6 p.m. All cyclists are invited to attend. Cycling information shared will benefit the beginner as well as more experienced cyclists.The topics include types of bikes for different riding styles, basic bike fit, bike safety and cycling in traffic, quick bike maintenance, best places in and around Vicksburg to ride a bicycle, and cycling events in Mississippi.
