The Parks and Recreation Department is charged with providing quality recreational facilities to the citizens of Vicksburg. We currently have 13 full-time employees seven of which are maintenance workers and over 100 part-time. We maintain 25 playgrounds, 8 baseball fields, 3 youth softball fields, 3 adult softball fields, 1 olympic pool and 10 tennis courts. 

Some of our activities include baseball (spring and fall), softball, basketball, arts programs, volleyball, swimming, flag football, lifeguard certification, umpire clinics and playground activities.

Our busiest times of the year are spring and summer. During these times we design leagues and schedules for thousands of Vicksburg-Warren residents. We schedule umpires and scorekeepers and are generally responsible for the smooth operation of all our leagues.

Cycling Basics Seminar

biking3The Vicksburg Main Street Program, Crooked Letter Cycling, Revolution Mobile Bike Service and Bike Walk Mississippi are proud to announce that a Cycling Basics Seminar will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2015. The seminar will take place at the Vicksburg City Auditorium, 901 Monroe Street, starting at 6 p.m. All cyclists are invited to attend. Cycling information shared will benefit the beginner as well as more experienced cyclists.The topics include types of bikes for different riding styles, basic bike fit, bike safety and cycling in traffic, quick bike maintenance, best places in and around Vicksburg to ride a bicycle, and cycling events in Mississippi. 2015 Adult Basketball Registration

basketballAdult men's and women's basketball registration will begin November 10, 2014, and run through December 17, 2014. Registration packets can be picked up at the Jackson Street Community Center and at the Parks and Recreation Offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Cost per team is $125.00 plus a $10.00 fee for each non-city resident. Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Classes Offered

Red-Cross-CPR-CertificationThe Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department is now offering American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification and recertification classes to Vicksburg, Warren County, and the surrounding communities. All American Red Cross Health and Safety certifications are valid for two years.

2014 Fall Baseball Registration

baseballFall baseball registration will run from August 11, 2014, through September 12, 2014. The fee for Fall baseball is $25.00 per participant. Registration forms can be picked up at Just Duet Sports, Hobies and the Parks and Recreation Offices on Army-Navy Drive starting on August 11, 2014.

Age division are 5 - 6 , 7 - 8 , 9 - 10, 11 - 12 and 13-15 years old. The season will begin on September 27, 2014, and run through October 27, 2014. Teams will play a double header on each Saturday until the end of the season.

Sno-Biz has come to City Pool!

Sno-Biz the popular shaved ice confection has opened a stand just outside the east gate at the swimming pool located on the corner of Lee Street and Army Navy Drive. The one-size cups are $1.50 and with over 25 flavors, including several sugar-free varieties, there is sure to be a Sno-Biz for every taste. Add yummy cream for just 25 cents more.

The stand will be open daily from 1 - 7 p.m. including July 4th.
