Vicksburg Recreation

Men's, Women's and Church League Softball Registration

Registration for Adult Softball begins March 5, 2012 and runs through April 16, 2012. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office at 100 Army-Navy Drive. Participants must be at least 18 years old to be eligible to play.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on April 9, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Parks and Recreation office. All registered teams must have a representative at this meeting. All rules and regulations for the 2012 season will be covered. Please see our website or call 601-634-4514 for more information.

Pool Summer Schedule

Pool will open on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012

Recreation Swim Hours
Monday - Friday 1-5 p.m.

Family Swim Hours
Monday - Friday 6:00-7:50 p.m.
(During swim lesson weeks 6:45 - 7:50)

Weekends and Holidays
1:00 - 5:00 P.M.

Lap Swimming
12:00 - 1:00 Monday - Friday

Office Hours will be from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Swim Lessons will be held during the weeks of June 4 - 15, June 25 - July 6, and July 16 - July 27.  Registration will be held May 16-18 from 10 a.m. - 1p.m. and Saturday May 19 from 10-12 at City Pool.  Please call Vicksburg City Pool for additional information. 601-634-4516.

Lifeguard Certification Classes

swimming lessonsThe American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class will be held on April 16 - April 27, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:45 p.m. at the Vicksburg YMCA on East Clay Street. Instructors will be Susan Athow and Sylvia Gurtowski. Participants must be 15 years old by April 27th. A prerequisite swim proficiency test is required of all candidates. Cost is $100 per student. Amnesty For Payment of Fines

The City of Vicksburg has declared February 1, 2012 through March 31, 2012 an amnesty period for payment of outstanding fines. The Board voted to allow the amnesty so that citizens can pay their delinquent fines and avoid a visit to Municipal Court.

Heavy Vehicles Rerouted 

The City of Vicksburg has rerouted all vehicles above 26,000 pounds from South Washington Street between Lee Street and Interstate 20 North Frontage Road.  Prohibited vehicles include all tractor-trailer trucks, log trucks, school buses and large emergency vehicles.  The affected vehicles are advised to use the North Washington Street - U.S. Highway 61 North Truck route.

Abraham appears to be a Rottweiler mixed with an unknown long-haired breed.  Contact our Animal Control Department for more information on Abraham or to adopt one of the other dogs or cats at the shelter. Warren County Wildlife Expo

Warren County Wildlife ExpoAll outdoors enthusiasts are cordially invited to be a part of the 1st annual Warren County Wildlife Extravaganza hosted by the Warren County Baptist Association. Come spend an hour or the entire day with us at the Convention Center in beautiful Vicksburg. See over 25 vendors displaying the latest in outdoor equipment and clothing, covering everything you need for your favorite hunting, fishing, or other outdoor activities. In addition to the opportunity to purchase the latest gear from vendors, you’ll be able to hear informational speakers covering a range of topics from fishing tips to hog eradication measures to snakes found in Mississippi. There will also be local musicians in the stage area providing entertaining music from Blue Grass to Gospel, and several fun kids’ activities too. Food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day from the Vicksburg Convention Center concessionaires. Admission is Free!

Skywarn Basic Training

2012 Tapestry: Vicksburg

Enjoy interpretive presentations of Vicksburg's history that brings to life the heritage and culture of this remarkable river city. Some of Vicksburg's most historic properties will tell their stories from antebellum grandeur to the Siege of Vicksburg to the turn of the 20th Century. Together these stories weave the Tapestry of who we are today. TICKET INFORMATION: Ticket prices for events are $30 for three presentations or $15 for one presentation. 25th Annual Riverfest

The event will start on: 04.20.2012 and will end on: 04.21.2012

RiverfestWelcome to RiverFest and Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Red Carpet City of the South: blocks and blocks of river artisans, foods of the world, and lively regional music. Shop our wonderful shops, enjoy our newly renovated downtown, and take in the great sights and sounds that make Vicksburg a national attraction. But save something for sundown, when the bluffs start to jump and the revelers begin to pound the bricks! The 25th annual RiverFest will be held April 20-21, 2012 featuring the Arts and Crafts Show as well as live entertainment from 7pm to 12am nightly. Gates for nightly events will open at 6pm. The RiverFest Arts & Crafts Show is an annual event, offering handmade Arts & Crafts, Food Booths, and Entertainment, including street performers, live bands, kids games, GospelFest and much, much more! The show is open from 8am - 4pm on Saturday. Attendance for Saturday Daytime Activities is free and parking is free for the whole weekend! If you are interested in becoming a street vendor/Food & Beverage Concessionaire at the festival, please contact the Vicksburg Main Street Program at kimh@vicksburg.org. We are always looking for sponsors to help make this event a success! The Vicksburg RiverFest Music and Arts and Crafts Festival is solely funded by donations and sponsorships.
