Court Services

The Vicksburg Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all traffic offenses and misdemeanor criminal violations that occur within the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi

City of Vicksburg Youth CourtWarren County Court system includes the Juvenile Court. The court hears all cases in which minors (under 18 years old) of Vicksburg/Warren County are charged with, or are the victims of, crimes including cases of abused and/or neglected children. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by parent or guardian when appearing in court, changing a court date, or paying fines.

City of Vicksburg Civil CourtThe City of Vicksburg Municipal Court is located at the Vicksburg Police Department headquarters building at 820 Veto Street. The Municipal Court deals with misdemeanors, which are crimes that are punishable by six months or less in jail and/or fines up to $1,000.00, and traffic offenses. The court can impose sentences such as incarceration, fines, and community service. Court for misdemeanors and traffic offenses is held in the Municipal Courtroom each Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning at 8:00 A.M. Domestic Violence Court is held on each 2nd and 4th Tuesday beginning at 8:00 A.M. and Community Court is held on each 1st and 3rd Thursday beginning at 8:00 A.M. Fines can be paid at the Court Services Division during business hours from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Payments on fines can be made after regular business hours at the front desk. For any questions regarding a court case or fine, please call (601) 631-3742 Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. 

If you are calling after hours and have a question or need to make arrangements on a fine, continue to listen and answer the prompts clearly then a return call will be made back to you on the next working day. You must state clearly your whole name and phone number for contact during the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm. Please follow the prompts.
City of Vicksburg Jury DutyCity of Vicksburg residents are potential jurors who might be selected for jury duty from a pool of registered voters in Warren County. If you are summoned for jury duty, you have a civic responsibility to serve. Those who do not respond to a jury duty summons or fail to appear for duty may be in contempt of court, a crime punishable by fine and/or imprisonment.

The Warren County Circuit Clerk is responsible for serving summons to citizens selected for jury duty. The summons will tell you when and where you are asked to appear. If you have a legitimate reason for being excused from jury duty, you may request dismissal when you check in for duty. Excusable citizens include those over the age of sixty-five (65) or with medical problems.

The City of Vicksburg does not offer legal advise to the general public; however, this resource is available through Central Southwest Mississippi Legal Services(CSMLS)if you qualify. The office can advise residents regarding legal issues and the law and may provide legal representation in civil cases for low income citizens.

There are many ways to obtain an order for Marital or Separate maintenance support after a separation. If divorce proceedings have been initiated, the officiating judge may enter an order for marital and child support pending the final divorce decree. If neither party has filed for a divorce, the person seeking support may file a complaint for separate maintenance support in Warren County Chancery Court.
