Hundreds of citizens and officials gathered at the Vicksburg Waterfront  for the Floodwall Marking Ceremony. The City of Vicksburg, in conjunction with the US Army Corps of Engineers – Vicksburg District, hosted a commemoration ceremony for the 2011 historic Mississippi River flood. The Mississippi River crested in Vicksburg on May 19, 2011, setting a record at 57.1 feet. The official high water mark for the record setting flood of 2011 was displayed. Remarks were given by local, state and federal officials. Mayor Winfield concluded the ceremony with by reading a resolution issued by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

recycle logoThe City of Vicksburg has expanded the the pilot curbside recycling program test area. The original area included residents living between Cherry Street, Eisenhower Drive, East Avenue and Chambers Street. The new area has been expanded to include Drummond Street beginning with the 2200 block going south and the south end of Cherry Street to Finney Street. The project includes the recycling of paper and plastic. There is no charge to residents participating in the program. Residents in the pilot area are asked to call 601-801-5377 for more information.

This workshop (HOMEWISE) is a post purchase curriculum designed to educate new homeowners on both the predictable and the unexpected issues and expenses that may come with owning a home. This class is held once per year, usually on a Saturday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
