December, 31, 2015 - According to John Elfer, Warren County Emergency Management Director, there is no anticipated evacuation notice for any residents at Eagle Lake at this time.

 

December 30, 2015: The City of Vicksburg has announced that due to the installation of the flood gates, the intersection of Levee and Grove Streets will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday, January 4, 2016. Rerouted truck routes will be posted.

 

JACKSON, MS - December 28, 2015  - As a result of the recent severe weather and heavy rains that we have experienced in the past few days, the Mississippi River is beginning to rise at a rate in excess of that experienced during the floods of 2008-2009. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) would like to remind everyone of several important items.

Pearl, Miss. (Dec. 30, 2015) – Governor Phil Bryant issued a State of Emergency this afternoon for the imminent threat of major flooding along the Mississippi River and its tributaries.

The State of Emergency is an administrative tool that allows local governments to request state assistance to assist with response and recovery associated with these storm systems.

(VICKSBURG, MISS.) December 28, 2015 - As mayor of the City of Vicksburg, I have spoken with Public Works Director Garnet Van Norman, and he has informed me that the City of Vicksburg is taking all necessary precautions regarding the city's floodwall for a projected Mississippi River crest of 54 feet on January 15th or 16th. As the river rises, we call on all citizens in the northern part of the city to please make all  preparations and take all necessary precautions to be safe. The City of Vicksburg, along with emergency agencies, will continue to monitor the situation and keep the community updated.
