(VICKSBURG, MISS.) December 29, 2015: Members of the City of Vicksburg met this morning to discuss future plans for the anticipated flooding that will be affected the Vicksburg and Warren County area in the upcoming weeks. 

The Mississippi River gage at Vicksburg is predicted to crest at 54 feet on January 16, 2016. Flood stage at Vicksburg is 43 feet. The City of Vicksburg began work to close the floodwall gates today. On Monday January 4, the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen plan to declare a state of emergency.

 

“The Vicksburg Police Department will be going door to door to inform more than 100 residents about the anticipated flooding in the area,” said Chief Walter Armstrong. “We are anticipating flooding conditions in residential areas. For a comprehensive list, visit www.vicksburgwarrenflood2016.com.”
